How often do we let the romantic ideals define our understanding of things?
Are we comparing our love lives to those we see in the over the top, idealized versions of love from the movies?
Does a song make us doubt our own music? Do I let a painting by a master encourage me or bum me out?

at some point we come face to face with the difference between the dream and waking life. We have the choice to either discount all that amazing goodness or to elevate our own work. Which do we do, is it fantasy or crappy reality, or wonderfully both?

I have to admit I have given up many a time because it's just doesn't measure up. Most people probably never even try because they can't handle "failing". I have done that too. I think this dilemma permeates my life. I see other peoples art, hair, clothes, even words, and I back down. I push through it, at times, but still lack the right perspective. I haven't examined this about myself until I met you Jake. I am so thankful for your ways you probably don't even know. I believe it is a piece of my life puzzle.

It's time to love and believe in it. I am created beautiful, and the way I express that is a sweet thing if I just believe in who I am...who I am created for....not to be better than......just to be me.

I sadly let the world's standards effect my self worth. I know that I really should only see myself as a child of the King and get my self worth from there but I find that I am more wrapped up in what I do, making music, than who's I am.
Say this quick, with a bolly-ja-wolly Indian accent: "oh, my golly goodness; what did I just say?!"

“There is plenty of courage among us for the abstract but not for the concrete.” - Helen Keller

“Love, like truth and beauty, is concrete. Love is not fundamentally a sweet feeling; not, at heart, a matter of sentiment, attachment, or being "drawn toward." Love is active, effective, a matter of making reciprocal and mutually beneficial relation with one's friends and enemies. Love creates righteousness, or justice, here on earth. To make love is to make justice. As advocates and activists for justice know, loving involves struggle, resistance, risk.” - Carter Heyward
