What's a nice recurring theme like you. . .

I just threw up a post on my Blog, Story by the Throat! about recurring themes in stories and art and how they resonate with us. Check it out and tell me what you think! I'd love to get a great robust discussion over there about our shared experience as humans.peace,-JoelSee More

Samhain, community, and drinking from the well

Last night Annie and I attended a beautiful Samhain celebration at the St Peter and Paul Episcopal Church, along with some other Bridgers. It was a wonderfully welcoming and enriching affair, consisting of food, drink, drumming, storytelling, and a liturgy to end the evening. “There is plenty of courage among us for the abstract but not for the concrete.” - Helen Keller

“Love, like truth and beauty, is concrete. Love is not fundamentally a sweet feeling; not, at heart, a matter of sentiment, attachment, or being "drawn toward." Love is active, effective, a matter of making reciprocal and mutually beneficial relation with one's friends and enemies. Love creates righteousness, or justice, here on earth. To make love is to make justice. As advocates and activists for justice know, loving involves struggle, resistance, risk.” - Carter Heyward
